Key Brewing

Key Brewing Company, founded in 2015 by brewers Mike McDonald and Spike Owen. Named in homage to Baltimore native Francis Scott Key, the brewery embraces Maryland pride with its motto “Balance is the Craft.” Key focuses on approachable, true-to-style beers such as Dundalk Calling IPA, Speed Wobbles Session IPA, and Bail Money Golden Ale. Its taproom blends industrial charm with local hospitality and regularly hosts live music, food trucks, and community events. Key Brewing has become a cornerstone of Baltimore’s modern craft beer scene through quality, accessibility, and local spirit. Key Brewing moved production to 1 N. Haven Street in Baltimore in November 2024 as part of a strategic partnership with Monument City Brewing, following the closure of the Dundalk taproom at the end of October 2024. The move was largely prompted by logistical shifts after the Francis Scott Key Bridge collapse and aimed at increasing efficiency by sharing taproom and production resources with Monument City Brewing.
