Heavy Seas Beer

Heavy Seas Beer, founded in 1995 by Maryland brewing pioneer Hugh Sisson, operates under Clipper City Brewing Company in Halethorpe, near Baltimore. Known for its adventurous “pirate spirit,” Heavy Seas produces more than 20 beer styles each year, including its flagship Loose Cannon IPA and seasonal releases like Winter Storm and TropiCannon. Sisson, credited with helping legalize brewpubs in Maryland, built the brewery into one of the region’s most respected craft beer brands. Visitors can enjoy a spacious taproom featuring cask ales, exclusive releases, tours, and festivals—all celebrating Maryland’s brewing heritage and bold craftsmanship.
