Unauthorized Brewing Opens in North Beach
Independent craft brewery news lately has been mostly one way — the wrong way. And then at the same time, there are new breweries still opening and challenging the tide.
North Beach, MD – North Beach has a new addition to its waterfront community: Unauthorized Brewing, a small artisanal craft brewery founded by three longtime friends who turned their love of craft beer into a shared vision. The brewery officially opened its doors on August 14, 2025, quickly drawing crowds of locals and visitors eager to sip something fresh, creative, and distinctly Maryland.
Located at 9132 Bay Avenue, Unauthorized Brewing is built on a two-barrel brewhouse, giving the team the flexibility to brew small, innovative batches that highlight their creativity and passion. From hop-forward IPAs to seasonal specialties, each beer is crafted with care and a dedication to flavor.

Unauthorized Brewing is more than a place to grab a pint—it’s designed as a gathering space where people can connect, celebrate, and enjoy the coastal charm of North Beach. Sustainability and community involvement are central to their mission, and the founders are already exploring ways to support local initiatives and create lasting partnerships.
Currently, Unauthorized Brewing’s beers are available exclusively in the taproom, where guests can engage directly with the brewers and experience new releases firsthand. The taproom is open Thursdays and Fridays from 4–9 p.m., and Saturdays and Sundays from 1–9 p.m.

North Beach is a small town in northern Calvert County, Maryland, In addition to a boardwalk, North Beach has multiple parks, including Wetlands Overlook Park, Sunrise Garden, Callis Park, and the Walton Beach Nature Preserve.
