Denizens Brewing Co. is Maryland’s pioneering brewery, established in 2013 in Silver Spring and now based in Riverdale Park. Co-founded by wife-and-wife team Julie Verratti and Emily Bruno, it broke legal barriers to operate as a full-production brewery and advocate for local craft beer. Denizens is known for innovative brews, community engagement, and supporting equality in the industry. It offers a diverse selection of beers, hosts events, and collaborates with regional partners. Its mission emphasizes local sourcing, inclusivity, and advocacy, with significant influence on Maryland’s craft beer landscape and local legislation supporting small breweries.

Maryland Beer Journal & Atlas (MBJA) was established to celebrate and promote Maryland beer — the beer, the people, and the places.
